- SEO trends

- Upcoming trends
In fact, all of our most successful Blog Growth Engine students are using AI in some way to run sites that make $10,000+ a month.
Today, I’m going to dive into how you can discover the most lucrative affiliate marketing and blogging niches using Chat GPT and the innovative power of AI.
We’ll explore top niches perfect for beginners—those with low competition but high profitability potential.
Let’s go…
Note: this post is taken from our full-length video on ChatGPT for affiliate marketing below. If you want a full deep-dive, be sure to watch!
How To Use ChatGPT To Generate Profitable Niche Ideas
With tools like GPT-4 – or even its predecessor GPT-3.5 – identifying profitable niches has never been easier.
It’s the perfect AI tool for affiliate marketing. And, better still, it keeps getting better every year!
All you have to do is feed in a prompt about what you’re searching for, and these AI tools provide a treasure trove of information.
For this, we’re going to enter a really simple prompt:
“What are the best affiliate marketing niches for beginners? They should be easy to rank, lucrative, and have low competition on Google.”
This result gives us some evergreen niches like:
- Dog Care
- Yoga and Meditation
- Gardening
- Astronomy
- Home Automation
- Podcasting
But, what’s really cool, is that it even takes initiative and breaks it down into sub-niches like telescopes, star maps, and even podcasting!
But these are all going to be hyper-competitive because of how broad they are. So, let’s get a bit more specific.
I’m going to ask for 10 niches in the outdoor category that are easy-to-rank and lucrative:
The AI is narrowing it down to specifics for us, like camping for beginners, survivalist gear, and so much more.
Now, here’s where the rubber meets the road. We’re going to validate these niches with an SEO tool…
Use Ahrefs To Validate Your Ideas
I’m going to be using Ahrefs Keyword Explorer to validate these ideas. But, you can also use a platform like SEMRush or even some AI SEO Tools to do this.
Let’s start with camping. Specifically, “best camping”.
I’m adding the word “best” to signify buyer intent. This means people are researching, comparing, and are almost ready to buy.
You’ll see tons of variations, like:
- best tents for camping
- best camping tents
- best camping meals
- best coolers for camping
Now, while camping might sound broad, there are specific products or areas that can be goldmines. Some might be less competitive than others.
Select the “matching terms” option, then set the “KD” (Keyword Difficulty) to a maximum of 20:
Setting the difficulty to 20 in Ahrefs lets us spot lower competition opportunities, like camping in specific states or even camping pillows.
A cool thing to remember:
The lower the product’s price, the less competitive the niche typically is. That’s why specific products like camping cots are less competitive than, say, tents.
Here’s what we get by doing that:
Now, here’s a pro tip…
When you see numbers in Ahrefs, like 350 searches per month for “best tent for motorcycle camping”, don’t be fooled. That’s just one keyword.
By ranking for this, you could potentially pull in traffic from hundreds of related searches!
Everyone searches a bit differently. My grandma, my brother, and I might all type in different things when we’re after the same product.
And Google? It’s smart. It knows this. It bunches up all these searches under one umbrella topic!
Anyway…
When you’re scouting keywords, anything over 50 searches a month is a good starting point.
Even if an SEO tool says zero, if you know your niche well, trust your gut. Sometimes you’ve got to spot the trends before they become mainstream.
Evaluate Potential: What Ways Could You Make Money?
Now you’ve gotten a better idea of the search traffic, you need to think about how you’re going to make money from these niches.
To really understand the affiliate revenue potential, think about:
- Product prices
- Commission rates
- Search traffic intent
Take kayaks, for instance. Their price range is massive ,from $500 up to $2,000 or more. I found one on Amazon for nearly $7000!
If you do some quick math on this: a kayak is priced at $500 with a commission rate of 10% is a good earning for a single sale!
But…
You also want to be able to diversify your content.
Say your target niche was urban outdoor activities. You could be looking at products like:
- Barbecues
- Fishing gear
- Patio stuff
- Functional sneakers
Look at grills, for example. The range is broad, from $300 to upscale ones costing thousands! Here are some affordable options that could net you a decent profit:
Imagine writing about different types of grills, their uses, or even outdoor pizza ovens. The affiliate opportunities are vast.
Ideally, you want to be able to create a lot of different articles, about a lot of different products, that can all bring you an affiliate commission!
Having lots of different well-written posts will help you establish an important SEO signal called Topical Authority. Which is key for modern-day search engines.
2 Tools That Can Help With Topical Authority
We’re going to look at 2 ai tools for affiliate marketing that can help you find topics and maintain authority in your target niche, no matter what you write about:
- Glimpse
- Ahrefs (or equivalent)
They’re important investments for your business that I highly recommend you make. Remember, this post is about staying ahead of the curve!
Glimpse: Trending Topics From Google Data
Glimpse is a Chrome extention that lets you put Google Trends on steroids. (Big shout-out to BGE graduate Eddy for sharing this!)
It shows you national and international data for the most trending topics, and allows you to build a full picture of how all the topics connect together.
Let’s go back to the ‘kayaking’ example.
You can see the seasonal search volume trends. And there’s an intriguing decline over five years – but not drastic. Notice the spike in 2020? Outdoor activities boomed!
However we can see there’s enough traffic and intrigue here to make it worth our while. But, the real goldmine is this section: frequently asked questions.
This is where you’re going to get your content ideas. These are the posts that will help your transactional posts with affiliate links to rank by providing relevant, supplemental content.
The Topical Map tool will also help you to see the related areas you need to talk about, building a bigger picture of the topic.
This will also show you potential opportunities you site can branch out into in the future. Mastered kayaking? Move to jet skiing or boat tours!
Ahrefs: Authority Keywords To Write For
Next, we’ve got Ahrefs.
It’s not just about linking; it’s a treasure trove for keyword research. Here, you can find low-competition niches and related subtopics ripe for content creation.
Sticking with kayaking, I can see some of the topics from Glimpse, show up here already. Bioluminescent kayaking was one of the related topics:
You don’t need to drop the KD for these keywords, really. They’re more opportunities to add content to your site that will bring traffic and authority to your site!
