How to Build a Blogging Business

I launched my blog in 2019 and scaled it to a 7-figure business in under 2 years. I want to share everything I learned along the way.

FROM WRITER TO BUSINESS OWNER

To Grow Your Blog in 2024, You Need to Scale.

I created this blog to show you that you can start a successful blog – you just need to treat it like a real business from day one.

It’s a fact – over 95% of blogs fail. Traditional blogging advice tells you to start with a passion, create consistent content for a few years, and eventually monetize it. The problem with this strategy is it lacks one major component: monetization. If a blog isn’t treated as a real business from day one, revenue is put on the back burner, content churns out for years without a clear direction, no money is made, and the blogger quits or says their blog is “just a hobby.”

Why do blogs fail? It’s not from a lack of passion. It’s because bloggers can’t transition from writers to business owners.

They find that engaging in a passion and writing about a passion for years are two entirely different things.

That’s why I flipped the script and started treating my blog like a real business from day one. I took what I learned in the Austin tech world and scaled my blog’s systems like a startup. I went from tortured writer to CEO. I stopped writing and started scaling.

And I grew my blog to 500,000 monthly readers and over $250k a month in revenue.

THIS IS IMPORTANT: These results are NOT typical. I worked 40 hours a week on my blog on the side of my full-time job. There is NO SUCH THING AS PASSIVE INCOME.

But if you have work ethic and determination, starting a blogging business can be an excellent high-profit-margin business.

On this page, you’ll find detailed guides to help you get started, my income reports, and links to my favorite blogging tools (with discounts).

BLOGGING FUNDAMENTALS

I’ll help you take the guesswork out of blogging.

In the world of blogging, there are thousands of potential strategies and paths to take. I’ll lead the way and give you the exact formula.

There is a paradox of choice in the blogging world. Shiny new tools, “advanced” SEO strategies, and “hacks” to get ahead.

The truth is, there are certain underlying and fundamental principles I will help you understand when it comes to blogging.

Blogging is launching, testing, and tweaking.

Bloggers need to focus less on creating micro-niche sites and more on tying their blog to their personal brand. Blogs attached to your identity are less likely to fail and are given the freedom to pivot. Your blog doesn’t have to be perfect from the start, but I’ll recommend the exact plugins and setup to use. Our motto is, “Good enough, move on.”

Blogging is a Google-driven engine.

When you first start your blog and have a few posts completed, it’s time to shift your focus to link building. Building your blog’s Domain Authority (DA) is priority one so that you can compete. I’ll cover how to efficiently manage your time so that you pull levers that maximize business growth.

Blogging is about building real relationships.

It’s safe to stay behind your computer and design a blog. It’s challenging and uncomfortable to put yourself out there and build real-world influence. However, it has to be done. I’ll teach you how to work with writers, perform guest blogging outreach, build links, and scale your authority.

Blogging is staking your digital claim.

Just like real estate, your blogging business can be a digital asset that builds value over time. I’ll teach you how your blog can drive purchase decisions, build your influence, and generate affiliate revenue.
